OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT AND PROGRESS REPORT

Dear all,

As noticed there are a certain number of accesses to this weblog from foreign countries, I thought it could be fruitful to report the latest situation of the project in English for the people from foreign countries. Then, on this article, I would like to introduce the overview of the project.
First of all, If you are not informed about the basic outline of this project, please start by referring to the letter in English attached on the following article (進捗報告 英語圏以外全世界へのアプローチ - YOSHIHISA YAMADA’s Blog / 山田義久Blog). It will probably help you to understand the essence of the project.

Since the declaration on the 20th of April, from Mr. Mochio Umeda, permitting his recent book to be translated into any foreign language (2009-04-20), dozen of projects have started up around the world. Let me quote existing start-up projects.

●Translation into English : Completed by English project team and be opened on the web (Yoshiharu Habu and Modern Shogi / FrontPage). Now, each text is being frequently corrected by voluntary workers on the web. Remarkably, a native speaker, Mr.Leonard Hirsch has entirely corrected the whole texts recently, and then the quality of the book has been significantly improved.
●Translation into French : Working by French project team (Yoshihisa Yamada, Mr.Koichi Goto, Mr.Kohei Naganuma) in cooperation with French Shogi lovers, especially Mr.Fabien Osmont(http://www.newsdigest.fr/newsfr/content/view/3186/83/).
●Translation into Polish : Working in Poland by Mr.Adrian Woloszyn with his collaborators. The publication in Poland is also planified after the public opening of e-book in Polish.
●Translation into Spanish : Coordinating under the leadership of Mr.Akira Yamada with Mr. Carlos Mario Penagos Hollmann from Columbia and Mr. Efren Rubio from Spain(http://www.yorisanjuu.info/) in fine Latino rhythm.
●Translation into Korean : Working by Ms.Hiroko Sasa with her Korean friends(실리콘밸리에서 일본장기를 보다 : 네이버 카페).
●Translation into German : Working by Japanese college student.
●Translation into Hungarian : Working by Mr.Leon Wooldridge with his Hungarian Shogi lover friends.

The 7 projects have started up by excited volunteers including me and we are in permanent contact by IT platform to support our work mutually. Then, this experience also seems to be interesting as the opportunity to explore how the people in the world can co-work on the IT platform without pecuniary motive beyond the opportunity to have deeper knowledge about Shogi.

Indeed, I strongly hope to arrange projects for other languages. The depth of knowledge in Shogi does not matter. Do not worry, I can guarantee that my level in Shogi is close to entry-level like a child.
Moreover, on this project, there is no deadline, so you can start and develop the project at your pace. If there is any problem, of course, I will make efforts to provide necessary supports.

Other than the candidacies of start-up projects, I thankfully had many positive feedbacks from all over the world. However this project may evolve in the future, the final objective of this project must be always the cultural exchange through Shogi at the international level, so I also plan to promote regularly the information exchange between Shogi lovers at the international level, and then if you find someone to have contact above, please send an e-mail to me (yoshihisa.yamada1102@gmail.com).
